In this paper I will discuss the destruction of forests that occurred in Indonesia. The factors that cause it, then connect it with Hegel's opinion about religion as a source of human isolation from nature, from himself and from others. and I will be more focus on human isolation from nature. Through this discussion in the end I will see who the people of Indonesia.
Deforestation in Indonesia is caused by several factors, That is :
- Economic Interests
To manage forests for the economic interests seem to still more dominant than thinking about the interests of ecological sustainability. As a result the dimensionless long-term agenda that is ecological sustainability to be neglected. This process runs linearly with the acceleration of global economy and free markets. The free market generally encourage each country to find the most optimal composition of resources and an export product specialization. Low technological capabilities of countries such as Indonesia tends to be membasiskan industry on a solid field that is natural resources. This is coupled with the understanding that exploit natural resources including forest is the most easy and cheap to obtain foreign exchange earnings. Industrialization in Indonesia who have not reached the level of maturity has also been made impossible intensive industries such abandonment. Then load the heavy foreign debt have also made Indonesia was forced to exploit natural resources to pay the debt over to the state. This is what makes Indonesia's non-oil exports are still dominated and based on solid products such as the results of natural resources. Exports of timber, mineral exploration and other forest products such as occurred in this framework. Ironically, these activities are often carried out by the exploitative and accompanied by illegal activities undertaken by large companies or small and even people who ultimately exacerbate and accelerate the destruction of forests.
- Weak Law Enforcement
- Human mentality
Religion as a source isolation: Hegel's Theory
According to Hegel, religion is a source of human alienation from nature, self and from others. In this paper the author will focus to see religion as a source of alienation from nature.
Human alienation from nature caused by human beings according to Hegel describes God as the object and something that is alienated. For Hegel it is called religion that is not good. God is understood as a great God, to overcome the limited world and separate from human life. He is the god who ruled over and not have fellowship with people who are under the earth. In this kind of understanding that human beings can not expect much to discover God in nature, because He is separate from nature. Because such understanding, views human nature as something scary objects at once a source of danger to humans. Nature is seen as something that is alienated and as something that is not friendly. As a result human beings can not love nature. Humans are no longer looking for life balance in nature that can be fun and spirit of human creativity to manage nature are no longer considered. Humans vacillate in the face of nature between fear and desire to master nature.
Natural human fear of causing the birth of the human desire to want to master nature. Such desire coupled with the attitude of people who do not love nature and the spirit of creativity to manage the loss of nature. Finally, nature was managed with a basis of power, no longer based on love or the nature of creativity that can manage it well. Human desire to control nature is not solely.
Because human love with nature, but because people wanted to fulfill his own desires. That was done for the sake of mankind itself and as evidence of human strength in conquering nature. This action ultimately is often manifested in ways that are exploitative and as human domination over nature. Nature really made the object of which are held by humans because god is not found in it. Nature becomes an object for man has no divine values. Because of that nature can be mastered, conquered, which in turn cause damage to nature. Management is no longer nature of love and creativity but for domination and the desire to rule and conquer.
