Impact of Forest Destruction

In my previous article, I try to review about the things that cause damage to forests, particularly those happening in Indonesia. And in my writing this time I will write about the enormity of the impact of deforestation on the environment or the impact on the man himself, from the impact that I think all the negative impacts.

  •  Greenhouse Effect
Forests are the lungs of the earth that has the function mengabsorsi Co2 gas. Reduced deforestation and increased use of fossil fuel (oil, coal, etc.) will cause the increase of Co2 gases in the atmosphere that menyelebungi earth. Gas is more and more and more, which eventually form a layer that has properties such as glass that is able to continue the sunlight in the form of light energy into the Earth's surface, but can not be bypassed by the radiant heat energy from the earth's surface. As a result of heat energy will be reflected back to the surface of the earth by the Co2 layer, resulting in warming the earth's surface. This is called the greenhouse effect. This situation raises the temperature rise or changes in the earth's climate in general. If this goes on the earth's temperature will increase, so that lumps of ice in the north and south poles will melt. This will eventually result in rising sea levels, so that some cities and regions in the beach water will sink, while the dry areas because of rising temperatures will become increasingly dry.
  • Damage Ozone Layer
Ozone (O3) which surrounds the earth serves withstand ultraviolet radiation harmful to life on earth. In the midst of the destruction of forests, increasing chemical substances on earth will be able to cause damage to the ozone layer. The damage it will cause the holes in the ozone layer is increasingly growing older can be great. Through the holes that ultraviolet light will penetrate to the earth, which can cause skin cancer and damage to the plants on earth.
  • Species Extinction
With the destruction of forest biodiversity is certainly no longer be maintained and even going extinct. and each day one species extinct. If all species became extinct what will we leave on our grandchildren.
  • Floods and other disasters
Forest that serves to control flooding in the rainy season and ensure the availability of water in the dry season, due to forest destruction increasingly reduced extent. The places for rainwater seep greatly reduced, so that rain water flowing on the surface of the greater amount of land and erodes the region in its path. Overflow will lead to a lower place, causing flooding. Floods can be further increased and will be repeated if the forest has done serious damage. Not only will cause material harm, but human lives would be at stake. And another disaster just waiting time.
